FREE 3-Day Wig Making Foundation Programme

Learn a Skill. Create Opportunities. Restore Confidence.

24-26 September 2026 Live Online | Nationwide UK | Completely FREE

Welcome to the OneWig OneSmile Wig Academy

The OneWig OneSmile Wig Academy is a new charitable education programme designed to introduce people across the UK to the art of traditional wig making while supporting our mission of restoring confidence to women experiencing medical hair loss.

This is more than a training course.

It is an opportunity to become part of a growing community committed to making a real difference through creativity, compassion and craftsmanship.

Why are we offering this programme for FREE?

At OneWig OneSmile, we believe education should create opportunities.

By introducing more people to wig making, we hope to:

  • Raise awareness of medical hair loss.
  • Inspire future wig makers across the UK.
  • Help preserve specialist wig-making skills.
  • Create future volunteering opportunities.
  • Develop pathways into employment and self-employment.
  • Build a community that supports women experiencing medical hair loss.

The programme is provided free of charge thanks to the generosity of our supporters, volunteers and partners.

What Happens After the Foundation Programme?

Your learning journey doesn't have to stop here.

Graduates who wish to continue can progress to:

Advanced Wig Making Programme

The Foundation Programme has been designed as the starting point of your wig-making journey.

As OneWig OneSmile Wig Academy continues to grow, learners who wish to further develop their skills will have the opportunity to progress onto future training programmes covering more advanced techniques.

These programmes are currently being developed and will be introduced in future cohorts.

Advanced Wig Making Programme (Future Programme)

The Advanced Programme will introduce learners to more specialist techniques, including:

  • Wig ventilation
  • Hairline construction
  • Lace customisation
  • Colouring techniques
  • Advanced finishing methods
  • Professional quality standards

To enable OneWig OneSmile to continue offering the Foundation Programme free of charge, the Advanced Programme will be available for a small charitable fee.

Any fees received will be used to:

  • Help keep our Foundation Programme free for future learners.
  • Support the charitable work of OneWig OneSmile.
  • Contribute towards trainer expenses and specialist teaching.
  • Purchase training equipment and learning resources.
  • Continue developing the Wig Academy for the benefit of future students.

Full details, including pricing and course content, will be published on our website before enrolment opens.

One-to-One Mentorship Programme (Future Programme)

Learners who would like personalised coaching will also have the opportunity to apply for one-to-one mentorship with experienced wig makers.

This programme will be offered for a small charitable fee, with all income helping to sustain and develop the OneWig OneSmile Wig Academy while supporting the wider charitable mission.

Participation in either programme is entirely optional and there is no expectation for Foundation Programme learners to progress unless they wish to continue their learning journey.

What Happens After the Foundation Programme?

Do I need any experience?

No.

This programme has been designed specifically for complete beginners. No previous wig-making experience is required.

Is the programme really free?

Yes.

There are no tuition or registration fees.

Participants are simply required to purchase their own training materials before the programme begins.

Will there be practical learning?

Absolutely.

This is a practical, hands-on training programme—not simply a presentation or discussion session.

Throughout the three days, learners will complete live practical exercises alongside the trainer using their own materials.

Practical assignments will be set during and after each session to reinforce learning, and trainers will provide feedback and guidance to help learners build confidence and improve their techniques.

Our aim is for every participant to finish the Foundation Programme having produced practical work and gained genuine introductory wig-making skills.

Will sessions be recorded?

Selected teaching content may be recorded to support future educational resources and allow learners to revisit key demonstrations where appropriate.

Further information will be provided before the programme begins.

Can I join if I live outside the UK?

This Foundation Programme is currently available to residents of the United Kingdom as part of OneWig OneSmile's charitable commitment to supporting individuals and communities across the UK.

We hope to explore opportunities to expand our educational programmes internationally in the future.

Will I learn ventilation?

No.

The Foundation Programme focuses on traditional wig construction using needle and thread, together with basic finishing and styling techniques.

Ventilation is intentionally not included at this stage, as we want learners to first build strong foundational skills before progressing to more advanced techniques.

As the OneWig OneSmile Wig Academy develops, ventilation will be introduced as part of future training programmes and cohorts.

Will this qualify me as a professional wig maker?

No.

The Foundation Programme provides a strong introduction to traditional wig-making techniques and is designed to build confidence and practical foundation skills.

Learners wishing to develop professional-level expertise will have the opportunity to progress onto future advanced training programmes and mentorship opportunities.

Will I be able to make wigs after completing the Foundation Programme?

Yes.

The Foundation Programme has been designed to provide practical, hands-on training in traditional wig making. By actively participating throughout the three days, completing the practical exercises and continuing to practise afterwards, learners will develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to begin making traditional wigs.

Many successful wig makers continue to refine their techniques throughout their careers, and we encourage all learners to view this as the beginning of a continuous learning journey.

For those who wish to further develop their skills, OneWig OneSmile Wig Academy will introduce future programmes covering more advanced techniques, including ventilation, lace customisation, colouring and professional finishing.

Will I receive a qualification?

Learners who successfully complete the Foundation Programme will receive an official

OneWig OneSmile Wig Academy Foundation Programme Certificate of Completion.

This certificate recognises successful completion of the training programme and demonstrates your participation and achievement within the OneWig OneSmile Wig Academy.

As with many practical trades and creative industries, developing expertise comes through continued practice, experience and ongoing learning. Our future advanced programmes have been designed to help learners continue building their skills and confidence as they progress.

Are You an Experienced Wig Maker?

Help us develop the next generation of wig-making talent.

As we launch the OneWig OneSmile Wig Academy, we're also building a network of experienced wig makers who would like to contribute their skills and expertise to our charitable training programmes.

You don't need to commit to an entire course. Whether you can support one session, a few hours, a practical demonstration, learner assessment or a future cohort, we'd love to hear from you.

We're particularly interested in experienced wig makers with expertise in areas such as traditional wig construction, styling and finishing, lace work, ventilation, colouring, wig repairs and other specialist techniques.

We particularly welcome professionals who are happy to volunteer their expertise in support of our charitable mission. Where voluntary support is not possible, reasonable trainer fees or expenses may be considered depending on the programme and available charitable resources.
